Today we get to celebrate the life of an amazing man, my Grandfather! He passed away this past Saturday, and today we will be remembering him at his funeral. He was an amazing man of God and loved God and our family with all of his heart! We find peace through Christ knowing that he is up in heaven running, jumping, and singing!
Grandpa always had great stories to share and it was easy to sit and talk with him for hours, laughing and sharing. When we were young he loved to threaten us with a “Tin Ear”! It was nothing to be afraid of, but when we would play around if you heard the term “Tin Ear” you went running! Even though, it was just him running his hand around your ear, it didn’t hurt, but you didn’t want one!
Grandpa could also get mad, one time when I was 7 we were staying over at their house and my brothers and I were sleeping in the spare room which was the office, and so there was a desk and a phone. I thought it would be a great idea to play with the phone, and then the operator answered!
I decided the best thing to do would be to start calling the operator names, and oh was I mean! I vaguely remember calling them stupid and other mean terms 7 year old’s use! Well as it turns out the operator did not take too kindly to that, she phoned back after I hung up and told Grandpa all about what I had said to them. Shortly after that phone conversation my dad came upstairs and let’s just say, I went to bed with a tender butt!
Grandpa was a great man of faith and always encouraged a love and passion for God and living righteously. He was not perfect, but he loved God and had a passion to worship him! I hope that I can inspire my future grandchildren to love God like he loved God!
Today at his funeral we will be able to celebrate knowing that he is no longer suffering! He can breathe without struggle and he has met our Lord and Saviour! I will get to see him again!
