Fundraising Tips and Tricks

Jen and I landed the a couple of the last spots on the trip to Uganda (which I shared with you last time, if you missed it CLICK HERE) and were now faced with the task of making a $5500 payment in just two weeks, which is extremely daunting! We did not know what we were going to do and how we were going to do it!

First we shared our trip plans with our families and they supported us right from the start. Then we drafted a letter to give to our friends and family members asking for their prayers and financial support if they were able. I also set up an info page here on my blog with a fundraising thermometer and donate button so that anyone could donate online!

We mailed and delivered all the letters, and then all we could do was wait. Amazingly, money started coming in, everyone was very excited and donated to our trip as much as they could. Within the two weeks we had raised the $5500 to make the initial payment on our trip and be guaranteed the spots. If was challenging for us because it was getting to be Christmas time, we didn’t want to put family and friends under financial stress in an already stressful time of year.

The new year brought some unexpected challenges, which I will share more about in my next post, as well as our final payment was becoming due. Our church supported us for our trip and we were able to raise $7500 towards the total trip cost and Jen and I were able to cover the rest!

We could clearly see how God provided for us in our time of need and put people in our lives that supported us financially as well as prayerfully! It was amazing to have such strong support which we really relied on the past couple of months.

When have you noticed God caring for a specific need you have had?
(Let’s talk about that below!)
