My Son Gilbert

I have a son, his name Gilbert Niyonsenga. I have never met him in person, but we have wrote letters and exchanged pictures. He is my Compassion Sponsor Child. Child sponsorship is life changing, not just for Gilbert but also for me! This month is Blog Month at Compassion, this is where an amazing group of bloggers are challenged to spread the message of Compassion through their blogs in hopes of sponsoring children.

Sponsoring a child with Compassion changes the life of that child and their family. Compassion ministry is centred around the gospel! Compassion works through the local church to assist the entire community. Many people ask, How does sponsoring one child make a difference? What they really think is that poverty is too big of an issue to solve. Well It has been a little over a month since the video went viral and just about a month since the co-founder had an emotional breakdown! Today, April 20th is the night that was set aside for “Cover the Night”. A night in which the supporters cover their city in posters provided by Invisible Children, to make Joseph Kony known. My original thoughts on Kony can be found in my blog post titled #KONY2012 … is not Enough. The interesting thing was that I actually got to go to Uganda at the end of March, and hear first hand how Uganda was responded to the Invisible Children campaign.  Continue Reading…
