Year End Thoughts By William Shatner (a.k.a Captain Kirk)

William Shatner a.k.a Captain James T. Kirk

We have just started a new year, and this is often the time that we pause to reflect on the past year. What has happened this past year that has shaped who you are now? Hopefully we are not the same person we were a year ago. I encourage you to take time reminisce about what life gave you over the past year. That way you can prepare yourself for what lies ahead. William Shatner gave some great advice to help us this new year.

Start saying YES!

Kind of anti-climatic, but let’s hear him out. His mantra is to say yes rather than saying no, because often we can find it all too easy to say no and sit at home. He cautions us to use our descretion for example, if someone says, “Want to walk off the cliff?”, SAY NO, but if someone says, “Want to take a hike up to the cliff to see the view?”, say Yes! If we start allowing ourselves to have fun and enjoy life then the joy and happiness that will follow.

A new year bring a whole new set of opportunities and possibilities. Don’t let them pass you by. I wish you an awesome 2012 and I hope that it is your best year yet!

  1. Great advice. Some of the best things have happened to me, because I said ‘yes’ at one point.

  2. That’s a good reminder. I tend to be a behind the scenes, introspective kind of gal and I just need to remember that it’s a good thing to say, “Sure, I’ll try that!”
